I have 20 years of teaching experience and some of my former students are already amazing professional musicians in their own rights.
Music is my passion and has taken me around the world, performing to hundreds of thousands of people. And I love to share what I’ve learned along the way.

My teaching style is based on pursuing the musical interests of the student. I feel that the world of music is large enough that whatever style of music you are in too, you can do to a high level with the help of an experienced teacher. If you love the music you are learning, you are more likely to practice in between lessons, and that is the key to moving forward.
However, everyone needs…..
- A sound, fundamental guitar technique (including plectrum skills, finger style, scales, chords etc)
- A great ear
- Strong rhythm
- Emotional connection to the music
I teach all levels from absolute beginners up to any standard.
My prices are:
- £25 (30 mins) – good for beginners and youngsters
- £40 (1 hour) – ideal for adults and everyone desiring to go farther faster with their guitar playing.
I can teach in person at my home in West London (TW12) or online via Zoom, Skype or FaceTime.
Joshua - age 10
He sets realistic goals of what and how much to practice and is always very encouraging no matter what. It’s great how he makes an effort to get to know a pupil’s interests and music tastes to tailor the lessons to each individual student.
Ciara thinks its amazing that Jo can play any song she mentions and it inspires her to see his talent. Ciara has learned so much in just 6 weeks, which has been great for her self confidence and lovely for me to hear the progression.
As a parent it’s magical to hear your child learn to play an instrument, Jo makes this enjoyable and without an ounce of stress or pressure. I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about trying out guitar lessons.
Jo has been a fantastic teacher. He has helped her with theory and improving her ear for finding notes and chords, and her picking has come along nicely. He challenges her with a few pieces to take her out of her comfort zone, while helping her with songs she has chosen herself. Most importantly, he has fostered her passion for guitar and boosted her confidence, so she is always enthusiastic for the next lesson, even while using Zoom for 3 months due to the lockdown.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jo as a top class guitar teacher.
Jo does more than just teach guitar, he encourages a deep interest in music, and for children to start to develop their own taste and guide their own learning. Finn’s overall confidence has definitely increased in the time he’s been learning, and he goes to the guitar when he wants to relax and have fun, rather than seeing it as homework.
